Lots of rumblings have been going on around the internet about Facebook changing its name to Meta in anticipation of the upcoming and inevitable Web 3.0 known as the Metaverse. But what is the Metaverse and are you ready for it?
What is the Metaverse?
If you watched any Sci-fi movie ever created you'll know that many of these futuristic or dystopian civilizations portrayed have people exploring and living their lives in a virtual world.
Two great examples of this are Ready Player One and The Matrix.
The Metaverse is a digital world. It's the successor to the internet and will allow human beings to live out a digital life as they see fit.
Socializing
The Metaverse is already well on its way to being the mainstream platform we humans conduct business and pleasure digitally.
From Virtual Reality to Augmented Reality, the Metaverse will be a place designed for full immersion and interaction to be taken place.
Gone will be the days of personal communicators like smartphones and tablets. A world thriving on the Metaverse will see a plethora of communication devices rendering smartphones obsolete.
People today are already enjoying what the Metaverse has to offer.
There will exist places where you can meet new people, party with friends and even go out on a date.
There will be more than enough places and things in which people will socialize with one another and if you can't find the right one then you can create a place yourself. There's no limit in the Metaverse.
Economy
I think the biggest potential of the Metaverse is the economy that has yet to be fully realized.
Think about the jobs that haven't existed or don't exist but can in the Metaverse. There are literally trillions of dollars that have yet to be unlocked from such a technology.
You can buy and sell goods and services in the multiverse like you would in the real world or the internet.
The future millionaires, billionaires, and Trillionaires will make their fortunes in the Metaverse.

Unrealized Potential
It's fun to make predictions of what the Metaverse will hold in store for humanity and it can be exciting but what's more exciting is knowing that we have yet to fully understand what the Metaverse holds in store for humanity.
I for one can't wait to see what amazing and fascinating things will immerge from the Metaverse and I hope it benefits humanity in a positive way bringing us closer together rather than splitting us apart.
Time will tell.
